About Us

Monica and Norman Herring opened up their lovely home in 2008 to become Cedar Garden B&B. The house was built in the 50s and a beautiful oak tree was planted at the same time. The Cedar giving the property its name, was stuck by lightning many years ago, but is still standing! The parklike garden has many nooks and crannies and 68 bird species have been recorded. The establishment is centrally located in the village of Underberg, with unlimited outdoor activities in the area. Cedar Garden B&B is perfect for travellers wishing to go up Sani Pass, for folk joining local events and business people requiring a stay over!

We are delighted to provide a cozy and inviting environment, where the homely comforts effortlessly merge with the beauty of the surrounding nature. With a capacity for 28 guests, our B&B is an ideal choice for those participating in sporting events like Sani2c, Drak Descent, and the Splashy Fen festival. Our snug rooms serve as your personal retreat, and our experienced staff is ready and eager to help ensure your stay is truly enjoyable.

The Southern Drakensberg is designed for FUN and Underberg is a haven for outdoor activities, arguably South Africa’s most diverse outdoor pursuit and adventure destination from amazing birdwatching, thrilling river rafting, fly fishing, and of course the most spectacular mountain pass (Sani Pass) in South Africa. Book in to Cedar Garden Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Underberg for all your events as we are centrally located and can give you a peaceful, relaxing stay over before or after the event.
